As a result of operational measures and integrated investigative activities conducted by the operational units and Investigation Department of the National Security Service of RA a criminal group involved in preparing and realization of counterfeit banknotes has been detected: more than 850 000 USD counterfeit banknotes, 25000from which at the time of realization, and the other part at the phase of preparing, as well as equipment for their print were found.
The officers of the NSS of RA, using the obtained information regarding turnover of counterfeit banknotes, organized the purchase of 25000USD under operational surveillance, immediately after which simultaneous searches were conducted in 13 apartments and cars. As a result of these searches 835 000 USD counterfeit banknotes, that were at the phase of printing, computer equipment for their print and other items were found.
On the place, where counterfeit banknotes were printed, about 1,5 kg of “Marihuana” was detected, a part of which had been weighted and wrapped probably intended for sale.
7 members of the group were detected within the criminal case and arrests have been made. The preliminary investigation goes on. Actions are being taken to find out other samples of circulated counterfeit banknotes.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
